Podium Residencies

“I learned a lot by being able to have conversations with new people, opening my own perspectives about the creative industries. These connections also provided me with the opportunity to showcase my work during the final week of the residency in a group exhibition, for which I’m extremely grateful.”

Júlia Mazzoni Armando Sant’Anna, MA Fine Art: Drawing, Camberwell College of Art

Overview of the residency

Located in the heart of historic Westminster, Millbank Tower Podium professional practice studios offer an iconic setting for your creative exploration. Nestled next to Tate Britain and Chelsea College of Arts, this location provides an inspiring environment for artistic development.

Who can apply

Open to all current MA and PhD students at Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon Colleges of Arts, from across all disciplines.*

*However, please note: oil paint, resin work, spray paint, plaster work and any other flammables are not permitted due to health and safety restrictions.

“It’s always beneficial to work across disciplines, especially a plus to work with people from different UAL colleges. During the residency I had the chance to run a short workshop on photographic documentation of exhibition. I was happy to share my skillset and was glad when the participants also found it useful.”

Dennis Ngan, MA Fine Art: Photography, Camberwell College of Art

“I had the chance to meet new people from different courses and colleges, which led me to not only make new friends but also new professional connections. The events that we had with the residents and the Millbank Team were very special in the sense of having a space to talk freely about our own perceptions of the art world and to share insights about our practices.”

Lara Ovidio de Medeiros Rodrigues, PhD student, Chelsea College of Arts

“I became excited to come to Millbank to do my work, as it gave me a productive and communal working space shared with other students who attend different colleges and courses. It helps me a lot to stay on task when others are working in the same space.”

Charmaine Wah, MA Curating and Collections, Chelsea College of Art
